Perimenopause and Menopause - NSW Premier's Department

The NSW Premier’s Department leads the NSW public sector to deliver on the government’s priorities. The department engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of educating the community and workforce about the natural phases of perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. The brief was to define these stages and provide guidance on managing symptoms that can impact personal relationships and professional performance. We produced a professional and supportive animated explainer video that outlines common symptoms such as hot flushes, mood swings, and brain fog, while highlighting that these changes typically occur between the ages of 40 and 55. Our approach focused on providing practical solutions, encouraging individuals to speak with managers or HR departments for workplace support and to share information with family members to foster understanding. The video is deployed on the New South Wales government menopause toolkit website to provide accessible resources, including a symptom checklist for users to take to their GP. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a relatable voiceover, we effectively simplified complex health information and reduced the stigma surrounding menopause. Compassionate motion graphics reinforce the call to action, directing viewers to the free online toolkit for further resources and support.
