Settling In: What to Expect When Arriving in Vic - Vic DOE

Animated Explainer Video

The Victorian Department of Education (DoE) manages the state’s public education system. The department engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of helping international students understand what to expect when arriving and attending a Victorian government school. The brief was to provide a relatable day in the life narrative that covers daily routines, visa requirements, and the support systems available to students. We produced a professional animated explainer video that follows a student through their morning at a Homestay, their commute, and their participation in diverse subjects like robotics and humanities. Our approach focused on clear student welfare information, highlighting essential requirements such as the 90% attendance rate and the role of international student coordinators in ensuring student health and safety. The video is deployed on the department’s international student portal and used during orientations to ease the transition for those moving to Victoria for their studies. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a friendly voiceover, we effectively messaged the high standard of learning environments and the holistic care students receive both at school and in their Homestay. Engaging motion graphics reinforce the call to action, encouraging students to utilise resources like homework clubs to stay on track with their course progress.
