What is the Valuer General? Valuation NSW (NSW DPIE)

Animated Explainer Video

Valuation NSW, part of the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPIE), sits within the Crown Lands and Office of Local Government portfolio and is responsible for determining land values used by councils, government agencies, and the Valuer General. The Communications and Media team commissioned Punchy Digital Media to support a public education campaign explaining how land valuations work and the role of the Valuer General, an area where community understanding was identified as low. Punchy produced a suite of animated explainers covering different facets of the valuation system, with “What is the Valuer General?” forming the foundational piece. The animation introduces the office, its statutory function, and how its work flows through to landholders across NSW. The campaign extended to a broader series of related explainers delivered through the same engagement. Services included script development, character and asset design, storyboarding, animation, voiceover, and post-production, with working files supplied to the client on completion.
