The Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner (VLSB+C) is the independent statutory authority responsible for regulating the legal profession in Victoria. The agency engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of explaining how they handle complaints regarding legal costs. The brief was to outline the process of determining whether a lawyer’s bill is fair and reasonable, providing a free and impartial service to resolve concerns informally. We produced a professional animated explainer video that details the specific criteria used during a cost review, such as the lawyer’s seniority, the complexity of the work, and the urgency of the timelines. Our approach focused on transparency, explaining that the commissioner assesses the quality of work and whether it match the costs charged while keeping both parties updated throughout the process. The video is deployed on the VLSB+C website to assist consumers in understanding their rights and the steps involved in resolving a dispute with their lawyer. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a neutral voiceover, we effectively simplified a technical regulatory process into an accessible guide for the public. Clear motion graphics reinforce the call to action, directing viewers to the website for further information and next steps if their concerns remain unresolved.
