Extreme Heat - Australian Diabetes Educators Association
Animated Explainer Video
The Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) is the peak body representing credentialled diabetes educators across the country. They came to Punchy needing to help people living with diabetes understand and manage the specific risks that extreme heat poses to their condition, including dehydration, insulin storage, medication efficacy and the impact of heat on blood glucose levels. Australian summers are getting hotter, and the brief was to deliver a piece of preparedness content that could go out ahead of and during heatwave events. Punchy produced a short animated explainer that combined practical heat safety advice with diabetes-specific considerations, structured around clear, actionable steps. The animation used a warm illustrative style to keep an inherently clinical topic approachable, paired with a friendly voiceover and supportive motion graphics. Scripting, storyboarding, illustration, animation, voiceover and audio mix were all delivered in-house. The video was designed for social media, the ADEA website and partner channels working in chronic disease education.
