Driving Resource - National Diabetes Services Scheme
Animated Explainer Video
The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) is an initiative of the Australian Government that delivers services and support to people with diabetes. The NDSS approached Punchy Studio to create a vital educational resource to address the communication challenge of managing hypoglycemia while driving. The brief was to provide clear, lifesaving instructions for drivers who take insulin or glucose lowering medicines, specifically focusing on the mantra of not driving under five. We produced a highly functional animated explainer video that uses step by step visual guides to explain how to identify hypo symptoms and the correct protocol for treating them on the road. Our approach focused on clear clinical accuracy, detailing the 15-15 rule for fast acting carbohydrates and the necessary waiting periods before resuming a journey. The video is deployed across NDSS digital portals and health clinics to ensure that the over 1.5 million Australians living with diabetes can travel safely. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a calm voiceover, we turned complex medical advice into an easy to follow safety checklist. Bold motion graphics reinforce the primary safety message and display the NDSS helpline number, providing a permanent reference point for drivers and their families.
