Settling In: Safety - VIC DoE
Animated Explainer Video
The Victorian Department of Education (DE) oversees a diverse range of learning environments, including programs for international students relocating to Victoria. They engaged Punchy Studio to create an informative resource for students settling into Australian life. The brief focused on addressing critical safety concerns such as digital scams, road rules, public transport safety, and water security, ensuring students feel confident and protected in their new environment. We produced a vibrant animated training video that uses clear, accessible language and relatable scenarios to guide students through daily safety protocols. The approach centred on a friendly Homestay parent narrator, making the advice feel personal rather than purely instructional. By incorporating tailored motion graphics and a detailed script, we highlighted essential Australian laws like bicycle helmet requirements and the use of the triple zero emergency number. This video is deployed as part of the Department’s induction toolkit for international students, helping schools and Homestay families provide consistent safety messaging. The project involved scripting, custom illustration, and professional voiceover to ensure the content is easily understood by students from various linguistic backgrounds.
