Sex Worker Discrimination: Andie's Story - VEOHRC
Animated Explainer Video
The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC), in partnership with sex worker peer organisation Vixen Collective, commissioned a series of five animations addressing discrimination experienced by sex workers in Victoria. Andie’s Story is one of the personal narratives in that series, illustrating real-world examples of discriminatory treatment in settings such as housing, banking and healthcare. Punchy produced a character-led animation that brings Andie’s story to life through stylised illustration, considered colour and a personal voiceover recorded by a member of the sex worker community itself. This casting decision was central to the project’s authenticity and was driven by the Commission’s commitment to community-led storytelling. The video was deployed across VEOHRC’s awareness and education channels to support understanding of the legal protections available to sex workers. Punchy delivered scripting support, illustration, character design, animation, voiceover direction and motion graphics.
