Sex Worker Discrimination: Xi's Story - VEOHRC

Xi’s Story is part of the five-part animated series Punchy produced for the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC) in collaboration with Vixen Collective. The series gives voice to sex workers’ lived experiences of discrimination and unpacks the legal rights and protections that apply under Victorian equal opportunity law. Punchy produced a character animation that follows Xi through a specific scenario, with the voiceover delivered by a community member to maintain the authenticity that underpinned the wider project. The visual approach uses clean illustration, warm colour and considered pacing, allowing the emotional weight of the story to land without overstatement. The video sits within VEOHRC’s broader education suite supporting workplaces, services and the wider community to understand discrimination protections. Punchy delivered scripting support, illustration, character design, animation, voiceover direction and motion graphics.
