Increasing Fire Danger - NSW Rural Fire Service

Animated Explainer Video

The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) is the world largest volunteer firefighting organisation, responsible for fire and emergency services across the majority of New South Wales. The RFS engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated educational video to address the critical communication challenge of public safety during periods of heightened fire risk. The brief was to provide residents with clear, actionable steps to prepare for bushfires, focusing on understanding fire danger ratings and the vital importance of having a pre-determined survival plan. We produced a vibrant animated explainer video that uses relatable family characters and clear visual cues to guide viewers through the process of risk assessment and home preparation. Our approach focused on life saving advice, emphasising that leaving early is always the safest option and encouraging the use of the “Fires Near Me” app for real-time updates. The video is deployed across NSW RFS digital channels and community safety portals to build regional resilience and preparedness. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a calm, informative voiceover, we delivered a vital public service resource that simplifies complex safety protocols. Detailed motion graphics reinforce the call to action by clearly displaying the official planning website, providing a direct pathway for families to create their own bushfire survival plans.
