Koala Strategy - NSW Dept Planning & Environment
Animated Explainer Video
The New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment (DPIE) is responsible for the protection and management of the state’s natural environment. The department engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of declining koala populations due to habitat loss, disease, vehicle strikes, and climate change. The brief was to outline the government’s commitment to securing a future for koalas through habitat conservation and community partnerships. We produced a professional animated explainer video that highlights key pillars of the strategy, including the expansion of national park habitats and the delivery of on ground actions in partnership with the Biodiversity Conservation Trust. Our approach focused on clear conservation goals, showcasing efforts to improve koala health and safety at vehicle strike hotspots while establishing long term monitoring programs. The video is deployed on the department website and social media channels to engage councils, Aboriginal communities, and the public in koala conservation efforts. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and an inspiring voiceover, we effectively messaged the importance of collective action to ensure koalas thrive. Precise motion graphics reinforce the call to action, directing viewers to the official website to learn more about how they can get involved.
