Bellambi Proposed Master Plan - Homes NSW

Homes NSW is the government agency responsible for social and affordable housing across New South Wales. The agency engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of explaining housing renewal projects to local communities. The brief was to illustrate how redevelopment can significantly increase housing capacity by turning 15 older homes into 50 modern and climate resilient residences while maintaining neighbourhood character. We produced a reassuring animated explainer video that uses warm colours and diverse character designs to show the positive impact of social housing on thriving communities. Our approach focused on transparency and engagement, outlining the various ways the government listens to resident feedback and provides updates during times of change. The video is deployed on the Homes NSW project portal and used in community consultation sessions to help residents understand the benefits of modern, comfortable and safe social housing. By combining professional scripting, custom animation and a calm voiceover, we effectively framed housing renewal as a vital solution to the state’s housing crisis. Friendly motion graphics reinforce the call to action, directing viewers to the dedicated Wollongong project website to get involved and learn more about the master plan.
