Natural Disaster Preparedness - Australian Diabetes Educators Association
Animated Explainer Video
The Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) approached Punchy to help people living with diabetes prepare for natural disasters, including bushfires, floods and severe storms. People with diabetes face specific risks during emergencies: insulin and medication need cool storage, blood glucose can spike under stress, and evacuation can disrupt routines that keep the condition stable. The brief was to deliver a practical preparedness resource ahead of the disaster season. Punchy produced an animated explainer that walked viewers through preparing a diabetes-specific emergency kit, managing medication and supplies during a disaster, and planning for evacuation scenarios. The animation used a warm illustrative style consistent with ADEA’s other preparedness content, paired with a calm, instructive voiceover that kept high-stakes content from feeling alarming. Services included scripting, storyboarding, illustration, animation, voiceover and audio mix. The video was designed for social media, the ADEA website and partner channels working in emergency preparedness and chronic disease education.
