Valuation NSW - Mass Valuation System
Animated Explainer Video
Valuation NSW, part of the New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE), is the agency responsible for managing the state’s land valuation system. The department engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of explaining how approximately 2.7 million parcels of land are valued annually using a mass valuation system. The brief was to simplify the technical process of grouping similar properties into “components” and using benchmark valuations to determine broader land values. We produced a professional animated explainer video that uses clear maps and infographics to illustrate the workflow from data analysis and property inspections to the final quality assurance of land values. Our approach focused on transparency, showing how percentage changes in value from a representative benchmark property are applied consistently across similar local holdings. The video is deployed on the Valuer General NSW website and through public information portals to provide residents with a better understanding of how their land is assessed for accuracy and consistency. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and an informative voiceover, we effectively translated a complex administrative process into an accessible public resource. Clean motion graphics reinforce the call to action, directing viewers to the official Valuer General website for more detailed information.
