Monash University - MiniZinc Optimisation Language
Animated Explainer Video
Monash University’s Faculty of Information Technology is a global leader in AI and computer science research. The faculty engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of explaining MiniZinc, a complex programming language, to a broad business audience. The brief was to present MiniZinc as a free, open source, and accessible solution for solving large scale optimisation problems such as vehicle routing and staff rostering. We produced a professional animated explainer video that illustrates how the software’s compiler translates business problems into sophisticated algorithms based on mathematics and AI. Our approach focused on the commercial benefits, highlighting how the tool allows for rapid prototyping and enables organisations to harness cutting edge technology typically reserved for multi-billion dollar companies. The video is deployed on Monash University’s departmental websites and used in industry partnership outreach to demonstrate how the tool can scale with changing business requirements. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and an authoritative voiceover, we effectively positioned MiniZinc as a fast, agile, and cost effective resource for modern organisations. Polished motion graphics reinforce the call to action, encouraging businesses to partner with Monash University to apply MiniZinc in their operations.
