Language Placement - Monash University
Animated Explainer Video
Monash University is a leading Australian institution that offers a diverse range of language units, from absolute beginner to proficient levels. The university approached Punchy Studio to create a clear instructional tool to address the common communication challenge students face when trying to determine their correct entry point for language studies. The brief was to simplify the enrolment process for non-beginners, providing a step by step guide on how to complete placement tests, gather evidence of prior learning, and navigate the university’s internal systems. We produced an engaging animated training video that uses a clean, academic aesthetic to guide students through the transition from initial interest to their first week of class. Our approach focused on reducing student anxiety by emphasising that teaching teams are available to help adjust enrolments if a unit is too challenging or too simple. The video is deployed on the Monash University website and student portals to ensure all language students are correctly placed before the semester begins. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a clear voiceover, we turned a potentially confusing administrative task into a straightforward journey. The inclusion of motion graphics highlights key digital platforms like Moodle and Allocate Plus, ensuring students know exactly where to find their timetables and unit resources.
