ARACY - Resilience and The Nest Framework

The Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) is a national non profit organisation that promotes the well being of children and young people through evidence based research. The organisation engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of explaining the science of resilience and the application of The Nest well being framework. The brief was to define resilience as a skill that emerges from supportive relationships and environments, rather than a fixed trait, and to introduce the six domains of child well being: healthy, valued, loved and safe, learning, identity and culture, material basics, and participating. We produced a professional animated explainer video that uses a scale metaphor to illustrate how positive and negative experiences, along with genetics and environment, influence a child’s capacity to cope with challenges. Our approach focused on the importance of trauma informed care and supportive communities, explaining how stable housing, responsive services, and safe play spaces can shift a child’s resilience base toward a more positive position. The video is deployed on the ARACY and Emerging Minds websites to help professionals, families, and decision makers identify opportunities for intervention and support. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and an informative voiceover, we effectively simplified complex developmental concepts into a clear call to action for collective community support. Dynamic motion graphics reinforce the visual scale metaphor, helping viewers understand how to nurture healthier and more resilient children for the future.
