Referendum, Constitution, Voice - VACCA
Animated Explainer Video
The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is a state-wide Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation servicing children, young people, and families. The organisation engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of explaining the 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice referendum. The brief was to clarify why a referendum was necessary to change the Constitution and to define the role of the Voice as a permanent advisory body. We produced an educational animated explainer video that outlines how the Voice would provide advice to the government based on the knowledge and experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our approach focused on the importance of constitutional enshrinement, explaining that this would prevent future governments from removing the body without another public vote. The video is deployed on VACCA’s digital platforms and community channels to help voters understand the potential for the Voice to ensure Indigenous communities are respected and heard on issues that affect them. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a clear voiceover, we effectively simplified complex constitutional concepts for a general audience. Direct motion graphics reinforce the call to action, encouraging viewers to make their voices heard and learn more via the official campaign website.
