Australia Battery Cages - RSPCA

RSPCA Australia is the country’s leading animal welfare organisation, campaigning to improve conditions for animals across farming, companion and wildlife sectors. They approached Punchy to help build public understanding of battery cage farming in Australia, a practice still legal at the time of production and the subject of an active national reform push. The challenge was translating a confronting issue into a clear, shareable explainer that informed audiences without relying on distressing imagery. Punchy produced a short animated explainer that walked viewers through what battery cages are, how they affect hen welfare, and why phasing them out matters. The animation style allowed sensitive subject matter to be communicated with empathy and accuracy, using simple visual metaphors and a grounded voiceover to carry the message. Scripting, storyboarding, illustration, animation and voiceover were all handled in-house, with the final video designed for use across RSPCA’s campaign channels, social media and supporter communications.
