Forced Adoptions Q&A - VACCA
Animated Explainer Video
The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is a state-wide Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation servicing children, young people, and families. VACCA approached Punchy Studio to create a clear, accessible communication tool regarding the launch of the Forced Adoptions Reparation Scheme, specifically to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families navigate the application process. The brief was to address the confusion surrounding government information and to explain the differences between this scheme and the Stolen Generations reparations, ensuring that affected mothers and families understood their eligibility for exceptional circumstances funding. We produced a direct and culturally safe live action video featuring VACCA CEO Muriel Bamblett, who provides a compassionate face to the technical information. Our approach focused on a Q&A style format that simplifies the online application requirements, such as the need for medical or legal support letters. The video is deployed on the VACCA website and social media channels to encourage community members to register for upcoming yarning circles and seek direct support from link-up workers. By managing the scripting to ensure legal clarity and using subtle motion graphics to highlight contact details and website URLs, we created a resource that supports the justice and healing journey for victims of forced adoption.
