Waste Services Overview - Fairfield City Council
Animated Explainer Video
Fairfield City Council in Sydney’s south-west needed to lift household compliance with its three-bin waste system and reduce contamination, particularly in its FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) and recycling streams. Contamination was driving up costs by triggering State Government waste collection taxes, which were passed back to ratepayers. The Council wanted a clear, friendly explainer that could shift behaviour at the kerbside. Punchy produced an animated explainer that walks residents through the three-bin system (green-lid FOGO, yellow-lid recycling, red-lid general waste). Green ticks and red crosses run as a consistent visual device throughout, signalling what does and doesn’t belong in each bin. The piece also covers problem items such as batteries, electronics and gas bottles, directing viewers to community recycling drop-off facilities. The video supports Fairfield City Council’s waste education programme across digital channels and community communications. Punchy delivered scripting, design, animation, voiceover, motion graphics and on-screen iconography.
