Fairfield City Council - Green Bin (FOGO) and Kitchen Caddy
Animated Explainer Video
Fairfield City Council is a local government area in the Greater Western Sydney region. The council engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of introducing the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) system and the proper use of kitchen caddies. The brief was to explain how residents can collect food scraps and garden waste for processing into quality compost rather than sending it to landfill. We produced a practical animated explainer video that demonstrates the step by step process of lining a caddy with council supplied compostable liners, collecting scraps, and disposing of them in the green bin. Our approach focused on clarity, specifying exactly which items belong in the FOGO bin such as grass clippings, weeds, and branches while highlighting that the service is collected fortnightly. The video is deployed on the Fairfield City Council website and waste management portals to ensure residents do the right thing and use the correct bins for sustainable waste recovery. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and an encouraging voiceover, we effectively simplified local waste guidelines for a diverse community. Helpful motion graphics reinforce the call to action, directing viewers to the council website for waste calendars and detailed lists of what can and cannot be composted.
