FOGO Contamination - Greater Shepparton City Council
Animated Explainer Video
Greater Shepparton City Council is a local government area in northern Victoria. The council engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of high contamination rates in Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) bins. The brief was to educate residents on which items belong in the green bin and explain how non-organic materials can lead to entire truckloads of waste being sent to landfill. We produced a direct and informative animated explainer video that uses clear visual lists to distinguish between compostable items and “no-go” materials like nappies, clothes, and plastics. Our approach focused on the environmental and economic consequences of contamination, highlighting that organic waste in landfill creates harmful methane gas and incurs significantly higher costs for the community. The video is deployed on the council website and social media channels to promote better waste management habits and support the region’s sustainability goals. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a relatable voiceover, we effectively simplified local waste guidelines for a broad audience. Clear motion graphics reinforce the call to action, encouraging residents to work together to reduce landfill and protect the environment.
