Wingecarribee Shire Council - Waste Management Explainer
Animated Explainer Video
Wingecarribee Shire Council is the local government authority for the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales. The council engaged Punchy Studio to create an educational video to address the communication challenge of informing residents about the life cycle of household waste and the importance of correct disposal. The brief was to illustrate what happens to red bin waste after collection and why certain materials must be kept out of the landfill stream. We produced a professional animated explainer video that traces the journey of waste from residential pickup to transfer stations and eventually to landfill sites. Our approach focused on environmental literacy, explaining that many items in red bins do not break down and that problem waste should be diverted to community recycling centres to avoid harming human health or the environment. The video is deployed on the council website and social media to promote waste minimisation and resource recovery as key steps toward a sustainable future. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a clear voiceover, we effectively simplified complex logistical processes into an accessible community guide. Precise motion graphics reinforce the call to action, encouraging viewers to use available recycling services for hazardous items.
