Waste Contamination - Fairfield City Council
Animated Explainer Video
Fairfield City Council came back to Punchy for a targeted waste education piece on contamination: the problem of incorrect items ending up in recycling and FOGO bins, which drives up costs, lowers recycling rates and sometimes sends entire truckloads to landfill. The brief was to help residents understand what counts as contamination, why it matters and how to sort waste correctly day to day. Punchy produced an animated explainer that worked through the most common contamination culprits (soft plastics in recycling, nappies, food waste in landfill, the wrong items in FOGO), with clear visual examples of right vs. wrong. The animation used the friendly, accessible style established in Fairfield’s broader waste education content, with a warm voiceover and clean motion graphics. Services included scripting, storyboarding, illustration, animation, voiceover and audio mix. The video was deployed across Council’s waste education channels, including the website, social media and direct resident communications.
