Alinta Energy is a leading Australian electricity generator and gas retailer with over one million customers. The company engaged Punchy Studio to create an animated video to address the communication challenge of transitioning customers from traditional basic meters to digital smart meters. The brief was to clearly explain the practical benefits of smart meter technology, specifically focusing on the elimination of manual or estimated reads and the introduction of precise, automated data. We produced a sleek animated explainer video that uses technical yet accessible graphics to demonstrate how customers can access monthly and daily usage insights via their online account. Our approach focused on empowerment, showing how tracking usage in 48-hour cycles helps users identify unexpected spikes and find ways to reduce their bills. The video is deployed on the Alinta Energy website and through targeted customer communications to drive adoption and support energy grid resilience. By combining professional scripting, custom animation, and a helpful voiceover, we effectively framed the upgrade as a shift toward more transparent and manageable energy monitoring.
