My People - State Library of Queensland

Corporate Video

The State Library of Queensland is a premier library and cultural institution providing access to Queensland’s history and heritage. They approached Punchy Studio to create a video for the First 5 Forever program to solve the communication challenge of promoting early literacy and cultural connection among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. The brief was to highlight that children learn best from those closest to them and that sharing stories in native languages helps build a vital connection to history and culture. We produced an engaging live action video featuring a Story Time at Home session where the book My People is read aloud to demonstrate these concepts in practice. Our approach focused on creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere, starting with an Acknowledgement of Country to ground the narrative in traditional ownership. The video is deployed on the First 5 Forever website and across local library networks to encourage parents to share stories that nurture a lifelong love of learning. Through professional scripting and high quality live action production, we showcased how little moments and storytelling can make a big difference in a child’s first five years. The addition of motion graphics at the end of the video provides clear directions for families to find more resources online or at their local library branch.
